•Biography
Elizabeth Mitchell was born March 27, 1970 in Los Angeles, California. Shortly after she was born her family moved to Dallas Texas. From a young age Elizabeth knew she wanted to be an actress. She began right away at the age of 7 at the Dallas Theater Center where she played Alice in "Alice in the Looking Glass". When Elizabeth was in High School she attended the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She graduated in 1988 and then went to Stephens College where she continued to pursue theatre. She later began to study Shakespeare at the British American Drama Academy in London. There Elizabeth played Rosaline in the comedy "As You Like It". When Elizabeth returned to the U.S. she landed her first role. It was a regular on a soap called "Loving". There she played Dinah-Lee Mayberry. Because of the training Elizabeth recieved in London, she took the role seriously constantly asking for script changes which led to Elizabeth being fired from the show. But that didn't stop Elizabeth. After being fired she went back to stage playing in "Three Tall Women" as an understudy. Then Elizabeth was seen on TV on a guest appearance on UPN's "The Sentinel". There she played a reported with a past, following a detective on a crime and recording what was happening. She later worked on "L.A. FireFighters" as the wife of a captain. Her character is so in love with her husband that she fears that he will die on his job. The show was cancelled after 7 episodes but that didn't stop Elizabeth there. She landed a guest appearance on J.A.G. playing a fire pilot court martial. Then in 1998 Elizabeth gained critics attention when she starred in "Gia" along side Angelina Jolie. She played Linda, the lover of Gia, one of the world's first supermodels who died from AIDS. This was Elizabeth's first movie but it wasn't her last. Shortly after she returned to television with "Significant Others" playing Jane, a woman who just got married and trying to live her life. The cast also included actors such as Jennifer Garner but was cancelled after 6 episodes. Then Elizabeth got a supporting role in the movie "Molly" which was her first theatrical film. Shortly after she guest starred in the short lived series "Time of Your Life" a "Party of Five" Spin-off. Elizabeth then got the lead in the NBC movie "The Linda McCartney Story", playing Linda as a photographer, getting married and trying to battle Breast Cancer. Elizabeth then guest starred on an episode of "ER" playing Dr. Kim Legaspi. She was only supposed to guest star in one episode but the producers were WOWed by her performance, writing her in for 14 episodes of the season. As 2000 was a busy year for Elizabeth she continued to land supporting roles as Dennis Quaids wife in "Frequecny" and a soap actress in "Nurse Betty". She then guest starred in an episode of "Spin City" as the wife of a man running for mayor, and taking his place after a heart attack. She then starred "Hollywood Palms" and in "Double Bang" along side William Baldwin and worked on a TV movie "Man and Boy" which she spent time in London to film. Elizabeth then returned to TV with a short lived series "The Beast" with Lost co-star Naveen Andrews. Elizabeth then landed a hit role in "The Santa Clause 2" playing Principal Carol Newman. While auditioning, Disney wanted a bigger name for the role but Tim Allen kept persisting Elizabeth was right After Disney saw Elizabeth playing the character they agreed with Tim and Elizabeth was cast in the role. Elizabeth then worked on a guest appearance for Law & Order: SVU and CSI. She then landed a role on "The Lyon's Den" another short lived TV show along side Rob Lowe. The show was cancelled after 6 episodes but filmed 13. Elizabeth returned to TV once again with great guest appearances on shows such as "Everwood", "Boston Legal" and "House". In 2004 she filmed a pilot for a TV show called "Gramercy Park" about rich women living in Manhatten. ABC had high hopes for the show, but it never got picked up. She then was in the ESPN movie "3: The Dale Earnhardt Story" playing Dale's third wife in the movie. On June 13, 2004 Elizabeth married Chris Soldevilla and then gave birth to Christopher Jr on December 4, 2005. Elizabeth then landed a part in "Running Scared" along side Vera Farmiga, Paul Walker and Cameron Bright. She played Edele, who had a twisted life style with her husband and kidnapped kids. Then Elizabeth worked on a pilot for a TV show called "Haskett's Chance" but the show never got picked up. Then Elizabeth got a role that would gain her much critic attention when she landed the role of Juliet in ABC's "LOST" playing one of The Others. She was also seen in "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Claus", reprising her role as Mrs. Claus. Today Elizabeth can be seen as Juliet on Lost every Wednesday's at 10 on ABC.
